Galway girl Róisín is a keeper of the flame, a jazz vocalist who delves into the rich heritage of Gershwin, Porter and Kern. Her knowledge and understanding of the genre is deep and passionate, which is evident from her performances, and also as she teaches, whether leading group workshops or giving on-on-one lessons.
Róisín has an honours degree in vocal jazz performance (BA in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance, DCU) and years of experience collaborating with artists around the country, not only through gigging as part of traditional jazz outfits, but also through creative musical projects such as JazzTempo (curated by Matthew Berrill), Tapestry Vocal Ensemble (Jennifer McMahon) and her own vocal trio Mayflyes.
Róisín led her own community choir in 2021, and frequently gives workshops on vocal jazz and vocal harmony in both Galway and Dublin. She is a faculty member of Walton’s New School of Music as of November 2023.
